I’m from Vancouver originally which is now mostly Chinese. And the city next to Vancouver is called Richmond which is about 80% Chinese now – if you can believe it! (Chinese can be very superstitious so they like Richmond because it sounds like ‘Rich Man’. oh god). So, I moved. The city that I once loved had become a Chinese mecca and I felt like I no longer fit in.

I moved to Australia thinking it was more European, and it was when I first moved here. But with 1.4 BILLION Chinese and 1.7 BILLION Indians and Pakistanis salivating to move here, the pressure was too much. It’s now mostly Chinese and Pakistani where I live (again). I’m just so over it all. And anytime you suggest you don’t want to live amongst Chinese or Indian immigrants, people call you a racist. lol Suck it. That term is so over-used now it is meaningless. As if somehow, I should enjoy living in a neighbourhood full of Pakistanis who are Islamic and Chinese who keep to themselves and speak Cantonese. What an absolute pleasure. I’ll be finding a new place (again) but it will be a secret… once word gets out that white people are living and doing well in a region, the Indians and Chinese start applying for VISAs to come. Fact.

I totally agree I have been Sydney, AU born and bred and have been working in LA, USA for 20 years. The last 10 years in Sydney has totally changed and I assume it is because of the conservative government at that time who profited off immigration. There is now a lot of discord when I recently visited and I cannot recognise my hometown. The idea of multiculturalism is great but is not working where whole swathes of suburbs become isolated mono-cultural hubs. They want to criticise the anglos for a mono culture but I cannot see any difference. I suppose it is payback for past colonial transgressions but when our indigenous population cannot be properly recognized by ‘new australians’ then I suggest they should have a re-think about immigration. I currently live in Beverly Hills mostly due to the safe environment for my family and I can see massive changes in the past 5 years of well-heeled Chinese moving in. Totally fine but don’t need any more privileged as what has been happening in Sydney. The thirst for status symbols is sickening (and so ’80’s) I don’t think the earth can take much more and you are correct in keeping your next move a secret.

“Swamped with Asians” as our favorite racist, Pauline says. The place was swamped with Greeks and Italians not so long ago and swamped with my Irish convict/slave ancestors 200 years or so ago and swamped with aborigines before that. But seeing as we’re in “Australasia”, having a large population of Asians is inevitable and they are much more of an asset than some others I won’t mention because they have no sense of humour. lol. Bottom line, I think people should be able to move to and live where ever they like on this planet. Stop being so possessive like Pauline … the bitch. lol

..“Don’t be surprised to see Hurstville become the first suburb in the country with a majority-Chinese population.”……….I can’t remember ever having a say in our high immigration policy, one that has created the congestion and lack of infrastructure , along with unaffordable homes in a city that is now unfit to withstand pandemics or global warming.

Don, Don, Don. You don’t remember having a say because you don’t understand how political participation works. Instead you would like the Prime Minister to call you for your – honestly, just dumb – opinion, parroted from some garbage you consume, then instruct their cabinet to form their policies in accordance to your ignorant bile? The reality is that you are having your say when you vote for your favourite racists. Immigration has been steadily dropping the last couple of decades. You won and don’t even know it. #don’tlivelikethat
